Over the past few weeks I’ve had numerous girls come to me, with hurt in their hearts. They are confused. They are holding onto the past. They are worried there is no guy out there for them. They feel let down. They are insecure. They feel unworthy.
This hurts my heart. I hate that there are so many girls out there that feel these painful things. Girls, the enemy is real. His goal is to kill, steal, and destroy.
Whatever it might be… Whatever lie the enemy is feeding you… Whatever lie the world is telling you, show admonition toward it. Rebuke it in Jesus name. Don’t accept it. Don’t believe it. To every girl out there who has a yearning desire in her heart to love and to be loved by a true man of God, I can confidently say he is out there. He is pursuing the Lord. The only reason He is going to look up is because God is going to tell him, that’s her.
Never let a man tell you you’re not worth pursuing. God became man, died, and rose again just to pursue you. You are worth pursuing. You are loved. You are beautiful. Not because society says so, not because man says so, not because your friends say so, not because the scale says so, not because you wear scandalous clothes (side note: modest is hottest ladies), not because the mirror says so, but because God says so.
You are God’s masterpiece. (Ephesians 2:10)
So, I am going to assume you’re wondering whom all these good guys are…
And more so where to find them.
Here is my answer. The “good guys” aren’t concerned with being Mr. Popular, they aren’t going to be out bar hopping, you aren’t going to find them shot gunning beers on game day, and so on. They are chasing after Jesus with everything that they have. They are out striving to be that man of God, which God has called them to be. They are out serving their hearts out, and loving people. They are proclaiming the good news, and making Jesus name famous. These guys are leaders; they aren’t out being followers of all the worldly ways. They are in the word daily. They are at church, and worshipping every chance they get. They have realized they aren’t perfect, but run to the cross and seek Jesus’ help.
Don’t lose hope. Don’t settle. Don’t let the enemy lie to you.
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. (Ecclesiastes 3:1)
- You must be complete in Christ before you are ready to date.
- Don’t put your trust in a man unless he can first put his trust in God.
- When you date well, you marry well.
- Set boundaries.
- Healthy dating relationships are something you make, not something that just comes along.
- Serve together.
- Be committed.
- Know that wisdom is more important than feelings.
- Be with the guy who is seeking God, even when you are not there.
- He must be a man of character. (Chances are, he won’t always be hot!)
- Seek accountability
